Over the year Radical Step students will be exposed to many different dance genres. It is great for a dancer to leave their comfort zone and try new styles! Although students are expected to work hard, we also try to create an atmosphere of fun and mutual support between all students in the class. For the first half of the year, students will be focusing on their Radical Step Choreography project. Student Choreography is performed at a the Rangi Ruru Theatre for family and friends. All students also participate in a large scale end of year production held at The Grange Theatre in November.

Classes consist of a warm-up, technique,  floor work/body isolations and an extensive routine. The warm-up is thorough as jazz classes require moderate intensity stretching to help prevent injury. We then focus on learning various and creative choreography. Part of this experience is the enjoyable challenge of picking up steps, but the deeper aim is to enable students to express themselves through the movements so they come to love performing.
